It looks like this year could see some really nifty developments in the world of game engines. I’ve already looked at Unreal Engine 4 and now Unity 4 news has been announced.
Here’s a fellow with a super-popped collar that explains some of the new things in Unity:
The new character animation technology looks rather promising and may make it easier to produce crowds and make them look real. There is a focus on improving workflows for studios in Unity 4 – including a Linux build!
There’s a whole load of new features including exporting to Flash (still no HTML5) and DirectX 11 support. What I’d really love to see is a visual editor included by default.
Unity 4 should be released in the last quarter of 2012.
Unity comes is available in multiple flavours and you can find out which suits you best here.
