Kevin Spacey Tells it Like it is

Having briefly worked in film and TV I am interested in its slow demise. The number of people who are subscribing to cable is decreasing every year and Hollywood isn’t doing too well either (despite the blockbusters). This isn’t a scenario like with the sudden fall of companies like RIM or Nokia, it’s slow like molasses. I don’t think we’re seeing the death of TV or movies or anything; I think that we’re seeing a change in how we engage and discuss visual stories.

I’ve been watching Breaking Bad this season and it’s insanely frustrating going back to having to wait a week for the next episode. It’s really annoying after growing accustomed to watching entire series when I want for as long as I want.

Kevin Spacey, one of the brains behind House of Cards, seems to agree with my notion but can explain it much better.
