Visitations – The New Mission Business Project

Visitations is the new project from The Mission Business, the people who brought us ZED.TO. It’s an interactive supernatural adventure that will run at the Drake Hotel at the end of April.

This looks like it’ll be another hit!

When Lucy discovers an ancient artifact in her parents’ attic, she can’t imagine what it’s for.

And when it starts speaking to her in her dreams, she can’t imagine how.

But now it has given her a list of names…
And YOURS is on it.

Help Lucy solve the secret of the Sabbaticus and unravel the mystery behind her infamous great-grandfather Charles Hoy Fort, founder of the controversial science of Anomalistics.

Global Game Jam January 25-27

Registration is open for the Toronto Global Game Jam so go register! The event is part of the aptly named Global Game Jam which is running the weekend of January 25-26th.

If you’re not in Toronto, you can join in the jamming fun at one of the 186 locations around the world!

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games… while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. Although the event is heavily focused on programming, there are many other areas where people who don’t code can contribute to a game.

AR and Mobile Gaming at the Next Mobile Developers & Designers Of Toronto Event

The Mobile Experience Innovation Centre (MEIC) organizes regular events and I’ve been asked to present on mobile gaming at their next event. I’ve been to their events before and it’s a good combination of talks and networking. The augmented reality talk looks particularly interesting.

You can register for free on Eventbrite.

The Mobile Developers & Designers Of Toronto (MDOT) User Group is dedicated to helping nurture the skills and competencies of mobile developers and designers in Toronto.

MDOT gets mobile professionals together for two hours after work each month to talk tech and creative around mobile media content and platform development. The user group covers a wide range of topics and technologies

Gamercamp and ZED.TO This Weekend

Gamercamp 2012 is this coming weekend and it’s looking like the best camp yet! Tonight they are doing a halloween screening of Ace Attorney.

I’ll be running a workshop from 2-3 on Saturday about board games and Board Game Jam, so if you’re new to board games you should come check it out. See the schedule for more fun things happening at Gamercamp.

Also this weekend, ZED.TO is having their climactic event on Friday and Saturday. It’s looking like it’s going to be the most intense interactive theatrical experience to ever be staged in Toronto.

A Special Message from ByoLogyc CEO Chet Getram from ByoLogyc on Vimeo.

Get Your ByoLogyc Retreat Tickets

The final event in the ZED.TO story (previously, previously, and previously) is happening the first weekend of November and you can get your tickets now.

All you need to know is that you may already be infected with BRX. Byologyc is a pharmaceutical company that created it and claims to have a cure, but they also blame EXE for releasing BRX. Get it? If you want to know more about the story then you can get up to speed on Byologyc’s YouTube page.

At EXE is Here you can get the inside scoop, gossip, and My Little Pony threads. The video below is one such example of the guerrilla research they’re up to.
