This is a nice 10 minute long video on the evolution of the english language and provides a look into how and why it’s so messed up. I feel lucky I grew up speaking english because learning it as a second language must be painful and confusing.

I’m a native english speaker and I still find the language complicated! I’ve dabbled in Spanish and German and both of those languages seem to make more logical sense (until I got to the dative case in German). Anyway, the Open University has put together a good 11 minute video on the bizarre history of english.
It’s worth watching even if you think you’re an english speaking superstar!
